I am a clipless g..."I am a clipless goddess... I am a clipless goddess"

At the moment actually I'm a sick puppy - I fear caught a cold somewhere along the line. Perhaps this is some unconscious way of avoiding my clipless fears?

Just out of curiosity, what kind of pedals do you have? I originally wanted to go with Speedplay light actions, because I read they were the easiest, especially for beginners. But we got them all set up ("we" being the nice fellow at the bike store) and I couldn't for the life of me get them to engage. We tried for about 20 minutes... he loosened them as far as he could, and I was literally standing with all my weight on one foot bouncing up and down and STILL couldn't clip in!

Finally, we gave up and tried the Shimano SPD's and clipping in was easy as pie. So that sorta made the decision for me. The guy said he set them as loose as possible so hopefully that should make it easier to unclip - ahhh but why worry, I AM a clipless goddess after all!

I'm really glad I paid the extra bit of money to have them installed and professionally fit because at least I got to practice a little bit with my bike safely attached to the trainer.

Have you ever had a professional bike fit? It's sort of a wild experience. They measure every conceivable piece of your body, and then make you watch yourself in a little camera from various angles so you can see... well... you can see where certain things like posture have room for improvement!

Anyhow, they ended up having to put a shim in one of my shoes and adjust the cleat a bit to get both knees pointing forward, so hopefully that will prevent any problems down the road!EcoCatLadyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15704811319510740473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5437530886114278864.post-31041242409655949692013-02-01T09:12:21.461-07:002013-02-01T09:12:21.461-07:00ECL! As you were typing this to me last night, Trent and I were having a discussion about how he is on board with me 'deceiving' Chephren but how he doesn't want to have to eat that same stuff!!! Le Sigh. Sometimes I honestly feel like I have two children. (But then again, I know that he definitely could say the same thing about me...) Thanks for the great tips as well. When I met Trent he wouldn't even eat salad and now he has a huge heaping bowl of it every night. We literally get 7-10 veggies/fruits nightly in our salad alone, so I guess he's right, he might not need the main course 'additions'... but, hey, it's not gonna hurt him, right?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05827718321802434964noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5437530886114278864.post-74378670956342572122013-01-31T21:47:58.168-07:002013-01-31T21:47:58.168-07:00Well... I must admit I am guilty of this particula...Well... I must admit I am guilty of this particular crime with CatMan. The man has this weird thing about vegetables, but I have discovered that in reality his dislike of vegetables is more a state of mind than one of taste buds.

I've hidden spinach, chard and shredded zucchini (all things he would NEVER eat) in lasagna, omelettes, casseroles, chili, soup, and any other dish where I have a reasonable chance of disguising it.

And you know what? As long as I don't mention the fact that there are vegetables in there, he LOVES it and even asks for seconds! But if I let it slip accidentally, he instantly decides he doesn't like it.

I've also had success by finding ways to prepare veggies so they don't seem quite so "veggie like" to him. I make "salads" that have small chunks of snap peas, tomatoes, peppers & cucumbers... most of which he thinks he doesn't like... so that part of the salad is all "pre-mixed" with a thick yogurt/Parmesan dressing. Then I put the black olives and avocado slices (both of which he loves) uncovered on top of a bed of the other stuff, and he loves it.

I've even gotten him to eat green beans, asparagus, cauliflower and even broccoli by roasting it in olive oil & garlic with a hefty layer of Parmesan cheese on top. This works best if I give the side dish some mysterious name rather than calling it "roasted green beans" or something like that.

I don't consider it "lying" per se... I just don't think it's necessary to divulge the ingredient list of every recipe I serve!EcoCatLadyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15704811319510740473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5437530886114278864.post-79882650603568309172013-01-31T21:30:51.264-07:002013-01-31T21:30:51.264-07:00Yes... well, we'll see how jealous you are whe...Yes... well, we'll see how jealous you are when I fall off the bike and break an arm or leg - twist heel outward... twist heel outward, I just have to keep repeating it to myself...EcoCatLadyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15704811319510740473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5437530886114278864.post-14781648518568399592013-01-31T21:24:17.692-07:002013-01-31T21:24:17.692-07:00ECL! He's actually doing OK given that he has a huge tumor in his bladder - but I know he doesn't have that long - and he requires lots of extra care right now.

And it seems that the more I focus my attention on him, the more demanding everything else in my life becomes - and then I just start to resent EVERYTHING! I too would just love to run away right now - my brain starts thinking things like "why do I even have pets?" and "why do we have to have so many people on this planet - couldn't they all just go away and leave me alone?" and "eating is too much trouble - I'm just too tired to deal with it."

On some level I know what's really going on - I just don't want to face not being able to control things - and I don't want to feel the things I'm feeling right now. Alas, we don't get those kind of choices.

The weather has lightened up though, and CatMan and I rode 100 miles last week - then it snowed - but I took advantage of the time and took my bike in for a tuneup and finally decided to "make the leap" and had clipless pedals installed. And we're in for another warm week here, so hopefully we'll get to ride some more - and hopefully I won't kill myself with the new pedals! Exercise really, REALLY helps me.

Hang in there, and please know that I'm pullin' for you!

XOXOXOEcoCatLadyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15704811319510740473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5437530886114278864.post-76346707176928007892013-01-31T09:48:29.704-07:002013-01-31T09:48:29.704-07:00Hee hee -funny video. I have been divorced twice...yes twice.
I have connected that many of my choices in life have been driven by my past experiences. The way I was raised. The fears that have grown as I have grown. This New Year 2013 I want to re-program my brain. I have been volitile, abrasive, and negative.
I have connected that so many of my choices in life were in connection to my extremely disfunctional relationship with my mother. Fear drove me and because of her abuse over 25 years of my life I have moved across the country to escape her, married and divorced 2 men and given birth twice in between, and the latest...I spent 4 years of my life getting a post secondary education hoping she would finally "SEE ME". The crushing truth was I am not good enough, but like you said maybe something about this is reasonating with me too. I have been suffering anxiety and panic attacks since my fiance has left. While this has been happening someone said to me "why don't you just be neutral?" In other words stop focusing on him and what he needs to do to fix this and start looking at you. In some ways I am afraid to really look at ME, because many of the skeletons are just to painful to look at yet.
My mom constantly attacks me since my fiance leaving. He was in a greater sense my protection from her. Her disdain for me, her abusive words, her uncaring spirit has put me into a very dark place. Then I read your part "I AM NOT REACTING TO THIS" and something clicked...that is exactly what I need to do! With my mom, with my fears, with my fiance, with my life. You put the nail in the coffin when you said "NO ONE CAN MAKE YOU FEEL A CERTAIN WAY, IT IS ONLY YOU THAT ALLOWS THEM TO DO SO". Its only just sunk in and I will probably need to process and think about this. In the meantime "I AM NOT REACTING TO THIS" Thank you!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5437530886114278864.post-61679653625576432872013-01-05T19:11:17.520-07:002013-01-05T19:11:17.520-07:00To Heaven on Earth!!!
